Cultivation
Alstroemeria L.
The use of Alstroemeria in bedding requires the selection of compact cultivars and protection of the root system from overheating, with a critical threshold of +22…+23 °C.
In the reference 19 varieties crop Alstroemeria, where this is mentioned in the description.
For flower bed design, dwarf Alstroemeria cultivars with a height starting from 30 cm are primarily used. An important agrotechnical condition is the preparation of drained soil with a cultivation depth of up to 40–60 cm, which is necessary to accommodate the plant's robust, fleshy, tuberous roots.
A key maintenance feature is soil temperature control: if the soil overheats above +22…+23 °C, the plant ceases flowering and enters a vegetative phase. To prevent this, mulching with organic materials is used. The regime requires moderate watering without moisture stagnation, and in cold regions, digging up the rhizomes or creating a protective cover made of spruce branches and a 15–20 cm layer of mulch for the winter.
