Color is a key varietal trait in Alstroemeria, classified according to the RHS scale. It is genetically determined and independent of soil pH, but it is indirectly correlated with the plant's physiological requirements for light and temperature.

Unlike many other crops, Alstroemeria coloration is not subject to change under the influence of substrate composition, although stress conditions can lead to a decrease in intensity or unevenness of color.
