Leucanthemum x superbum (Bergmans ex J. W. Ingram) D. H. Kent
The use of Shasta daisy in bedding compositions requires adherence to planting density for aeration and regular division of clumps to prevent premature aging.
In the reference 16 varieties crop Shasta daisy, where this is mentioned in the description.
When creating bedding plantings using Leucanthemum x superbum, the optimal planting density is 6–9 plants per 1 m², which corresponds to a spacing of 40–50 cm between plants. This is necessary to ensure proper air circulation and to prevent the overcrowding to which this crop is prone.
In a bed setting, Leucanthemum x superbum displays the characteristics of a perennial plant prone to gradual dieback of the central part of the clump and smaller inflorescences after 2–3 years of growth. To maintain the ornamental quality of the plantings, regular division and rejuvenation of the plants are required every two to three years.
To maintain an aesthetic appearance within beds, it is necessary to remove faded inflorescences in a timely manner, which stimulates repeat flowering. In highly fertile soils or under low-light conditions, the plant stems may lodge, making the use of supports necessary, unlike with other low-growing species.
