Growing Gerbera in containers requires specific substrates with high aeration and strict control of pH and EC levels. This method is critical for protecting the sensitive growing point and root system from waterlogging and rot.

The Gerbera root system is extremely sensitive to oxygen deficiency and waterlogging, which provokes the development of plant pathogens such as Phytophthora, Fusarium, and Pythium. Container cultivation requires sterilized, loose substrates with an EC level of 0.6–0.8 and a pH of 5.0–5.5. When planting, it is necessary to avoid burying the rosette, as moisture entering its center inevitably leads to the death of the plant.

Container technology allows for precise regulation of the water regime, eliminating water stagnation, and ensures mobility to maintain a light regime of 12–14 hours. Gerbera requires pots 25–30 cm deep due to the presence of a taproot. Spacing density is limited to 20–25 plants per square meter to ensure air circulation, and irrigation is carried out exclusively at the base.
