Container culture for coleus is a method of managing the life cycle of a plant that does not overwinter in open ground. The mobility of the pots allows plants to be placed outdoors only when stable night temperatures exceed +10…+13 °C, and moved into indoor spaces with temperatures of +18…+22 °C for overwintering in the autumn.

Growing in containers requires strict moisture control and quality drainage, as the crop is sensitive to waterlogging and desiccation. Optimal biomass development is achieved by incorporating prolonged-action fertilizers directly into the substrate, and regular pinching and removal of flower spikes are necessary to maintain the decorative habit.
