Successful carrot production requires a loose topsoil layer at least 30 cm deep, as any obstacles during growth lead to root deformation. On heavy soils, ridge or bed cultivation is used to ensure proper morphology, and a firm seedbed is created to optimize moisture for the small seeds, avoiding deep cultivation immediately before sowing.

The technology excludes the application of fresh organic matter to carrots due to the risk of root branching and reduced storage quality. Adherence to crop rotation is mandatory, with a return interval of 3–7 years and the exclusion of Umbelliferae (Apiaceae) predecessors. To protect the harvest, roots are hilled to prevent greening, and carrot fly populations are managed by intercropping with onions to disrupt their orientation.
