Tomato cultivation in the open field is strictly limited by external climatic factors, which dictates the choice of determinate hybrids and varieties. Such plants terminate their growth after the formation of 2–8 inflorescences, which ensures a concentrated fruiting period that manages to complete before the onset of unfavorable autumn conditions.
Field agronomy involves specific selection assessment for heat and drought tolerance, as well as field resistance to diseases such as late blight. Unlike greenhouse conditions, pruning and staking processes are less intensive here, yet the irrigation regime is critical for preventing physiological fruit cracking.
