Growing sweet corn in the open field requires strict adherence to soil temperature regimes and spatial isolation to prevent cross-pollination with other types of corn.

The crop is highly thermophilic; therefore, sowing in the open field is possible only when the soil has warmed to +10…+15 °C at seeding depth. At lower temperatures, especially for sh2-type hybrids, there is a high risk of seed decay. An important condition is providing spatial isolation of at least 300 meters from other types of corn, as cross-pollination negatively affects the sweetness and consistency of the kernels.

Sweet corn is demanding regarding light and moisture availability, especially during the flowering and ear-filling stages. Overcrowding of crops is unacceptable, as it leads to stem elongation and disruption of the pollination process. To obtain an early harvest and reduce climatic risks, the transplanting method is practiced, followed by planting into the soil.
