The productivity of red fescue is divided into forage productivity, estimated by dry matter or hay mass, and seed productivity, determined by seed yield and the structure of productive stems.

Forage productivity of forage-type cultivars ranges from 9–12 t/ha of dry matter, with hay yields in pure stands reaching 60–70 dt/ha. Turf cultivars are characterized by lower above-ground productivity, slower growth, and the ability to form a dense sod.
Seed productivity of efficient cultivars varies from 400 to 500 kg/ha, while in turf-type breeding nurseries, it ranges from 71 to 108 g/m². Seed yield is critically dependent on stand density, which for optimal performance is 90–210 productive stems per square meter.
Maximum seed yield indicators for red fescue are observed in the 3rd–4th year of the plant's life. When the crop is used for forage purposes, the productive longevity of the stand can reach 7–10 years.
