Italian ryegrass has high fermentation potential due to a content of up to 20 percent carbohydrates in dry matter, of which up to 12 percent are sugars. Wilting the mown mass for 24 hours helps to optimize the lactic-to-acetic acid ratio and maintain crude protein levels.

Due to its upright stems and high-tillering habit, the crop is well-suited for mechanized harvesting. To achieve optimal nutritional quality, harvesting is recommended during early growth stages, starting from the booting stage. As part of grass mixtures, ryegrass provides the bulk of the biomass, which contributes to creating fodder that is balanced in structure and protein.
