Prunus domestica L.
The pathogen is the phytoplasma Candidatus Phytoplasma solani, for which Prunus domestica serves as an accidental host. The disease is not specific to this crop, and symptoms are poorly understood and are often conflated with other stone fruit phytoplasmoses.

Prunus domestica is mentioned as one of the host species for Candidatus Phytoplasma solani; however, the disease does not exhibit specific pathognomonic characteristics for this crop. Unlike in solanaceous plants, the classic signs of stolbur, such as phyllody or flower deformation, have not been recorded in plum.
The diagnosis of stolbur infection in plum is difficult due to the absence of documented specific external symptoms. In agronomic practice, signs of infection are often confused with the symptoms of European stone fruit yellows, which is caused by a different pathogen. At present, there is no scientific data regarding pathogen races in relation to plum, and breeding for resistance specifically to stolbur is not being conducted.
Confirmation of plum infection by this pathogen is possible only through the use of molecular genetic analysis methods, such as PCR. Resistance genes in plum against stolbur have not yet been identified, which precludes the existence of official data on cultivars resistant to this phytoplasmosis.
