The ability of maize hybrids to tolerate herbicide exposure without yield loss or symptoms of phytotoxicity. It is evaluated using the EWRC scale, biomass indicators, and grain yield compared to control plots.

To assess the resistance of specific maize genotypes, the EWRC scale is applied, where 0 points correspond to no damage and 10 points to plant death. In scientific research, morphometric parameters, such as dry matter accumulation and total grain yield, as well as the activity of detoxification enzymes, are additionally analyzed.

High resistance is characterized by maintaining a productivity level comparable to the control, even at increased dosage rates. Low resistance manifests as chlorosis, leaf deformation, and growth retardation. The sensitivity of hybrids to certain chemical classes, such as sulfonylureas, directly affects permitted application guidelines; violating these during the critical 3–5 leaf stages can lead to a loss of up to 40% of the yield.
