Plant height — Anthurium andraeanum

Anthurium-Andreanum-Hybriden

An important morphological indicator for variety testing and classification of Anthurium andraeanum, measured from the substrate surface to the highest point of the plant.

In the reference 32 varieties crop Anthurium, where this is mentioned in the description.

For Anthurium andraeanum, plant height is a key criterion for DUS testing. Measurements are taken on fully developed specimens: for pot plants — after 6–7 months of cultivation, for cut flowers — after 11–14 months. Height is defined as the distance from the substrate to the tip of the highest vertically standing leaf or inflorescence.

Height values range from 30–45 cm for compact varieties to 70–90 cm or more for tall forms. This indicator determines planting density, market specialization of the variety, and the need for technical operations, such as rejuvenation by rooting the top as the stem naturally elongates.
