The Veloudo variety is a traditional Greek okra genotype. When cultivated in a Mediterranean climate, the plant forms fruits after the emergence of 5–8 leaves, and fruiting occurs in waves. Optimal quality and yield indicators are achieved with early sowing in March.
The fruits of this variety belong to small-fruited types, which meets the market standards of Greece and Turkey. The color of the pods is determined by a specific content of chlorophyll and carotenoids. Seed germination is estimated as high, ranging from 80 to 100 percent, however, the indicator may decrease under excessive fruit load on the plant.
