The variety «Violeta» was bred by selection from a wild population collected in the Klaipėda district. The plant is characterized as early for its species, has medium-height stems, and forms a dense turf resembling Kentucky bluegrass, with long inflorescences.
The variety is intended for the creation of late-season grasslands and can be used in mixtures with other grasses or small-seeded legumes. It exhibits high productivity and is better suited for hay harvesting than for grazing.
