The onion variety Hoopla is a mid-season variety with yellow bulbs. In field trials conducted in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was used as a control sample.
Studies revealed high susceptibility of this variety to white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum). Also, during the experiments, it was recorded that the variety is subject to a significant level of damage by the onion maggot (Delia antiqua).
