The variety is a traditional local ecotype common in the Istria region. It is a bolting garlic characterized by bulbs with a distinct red color of the cloves.
The plant is adapted to local climatic conditions. Studies of the variety include examining the response to drought conditions as well as the influence of agrotechnical factors on the morphological parameters of the bulbs, including their weight, height, and diameter.
