The variety is a landrace population formed in the Istria region. In Croatia, it holds the official status of a conservation variety, which emphasizes its importance for the preservation of biological diversity.
The traditional cultivation cycle of the variety takes three years: the first year is allocated for obtaining sets, the second for bulb formation, and the third for seed production. The dry scales are yellow in color.
The plant possesses high adaptability to the climatic conditions of the region and increased tolerance to local diseases and pests. Given that the variety is a landrace population and not a genetically uniform hybrid, its morphological characteristics may vary.
