Istrska rumena, also known as Istarski žuti, is a local variety traditionally grown in Istria. Due to its characteristics, it is classified as a variety for spring use, which precludes the possibility of long-term storage.
In terms of appearance, the variety is distinguished by the yellow color of its scales. Under modern conditions, it has lost its significance for commercial production due to lower yields compared to hybrids, as well as susceptibility to diseases and pests, surviving primarily as a garden crop.
