The variety forms small, tender, silvery-white bulbs. The plant reaches a height of about 30–40 cm. It belongs to the very early-maturing varieties, the harvest of which can be collected 5–6 weeks after sowing depending on growing conditions.
The bulbs have a mild, delicate flavor and are ideally suited for canning, pickling, and fresh consumption in salads. The variety is not winter-hardy.
This variety is traditionally classified as a pearl onion (Perlzwiebel). In literature, it is found under the historical names «La Reine» and «Vaugirard».
