The plant is an intergeneric hybrid obtained by crossing Nerine bowdenii and Amaryllis belladonna. It is used as an ornamental crop for flower bed landscaping, as well as a container or potted plant for patios, terraces, and balconies.
Flowering occurs in the autumn period, from September to November. The height of the plant varies from 70 to 80 cm. The variety is characterized by high ornamental value and long vase life of cut flowers. The plants prefer sunny locations protected from wind and rain; wintering in the ground requires covering.
The name × Amarine Sealy is the botanical designation of the hybrid genus, not part of the variety name. It is necessary to distinguish this variety from other plants named «Aphrodite» (lilies, heather, or abutilon) by their genus.
