The variety «Carmina» is a decorative type of pineapple and is not intended for human consumption. It was obtained during a breeding program using wild species, including Ananas bracteatus, A. nanus and A. lucidus, to achieve high decorative qualities.
The plant has a long, thin and upright peduncle, a small inflorescence with red bracts and purple petals. In cut form, it retains its decorative appearance for at least ten days. The readiness of inflorescences for harvest in open field conditions occurs six months after planting.
The crop is characterized by a high ability to form suckers, good growth vigor and short production cycles. The variety responds well to flowering induction agents and is distinguished by high overall viability.
