The variety was obtained within a breeding program by crossing Smooth Cayenne and Manzana. The plant possesses characteristics that make it suitable for fresh market sale and industrial processing, providing an increased product yield in the production of cubes compared to the Smooth Cayenne variety.

Fruits of the variety are rarely affected by Fruitlet Core Rot. At the same time, the variety is noted to be sensitive to low temperatures, which lead to internal browning (chilling injury), making it a subject of scientific research on physiological disorders during storage.
