The variety is classified as a double hybrid. Morphological tests of past years demonstrated its high productivity in comparison with standard varieties of that period, which made it suitable for commercial production.

Plants of the Diane variety showed susceptibility to root rots, Fusarium, and southern root-knot nematodes, and also experienced difficulties with survival when transplanted in unfavorable soil conditions. In modern practice, this variety is being replaced by more advanced male hybrids.
