Variety description

10 August 2026

In 1953, an American oat variety called Craig was introduced, which was characterized as mid-season. This variety is not related to the breeding program of Aberystwyth University.

In the scientific literature of the early 20th century, the surname Craig is mentioned in publications dedicated to genetic research on oats, in particular the study of the inheritance of base type and grain color, however, this refers to the authors of the studies, not to a variety. The surname Craig is also found in contemporary works by Aberystwyth University researchers on oat genomics.
