The variety «Krefeld» (or «Krefeld Orange») belongs to the elatior group and is mentioned in 1970s publications as a commercially available flowering begonia. The variety name is presumably associated with the German city of Krefeld.
In the 1970s–80s, the variety appeared in technical reports related to plant protection product trials against powdery mildew, which confirms its use on an industrial or collection scale during that period. Specific morphological characteristics of the plant are absent in available materials.
