The shrub reaches a height of 0.8–1.2 m and has a rounded, dense, spreading crown with thorny shoots. The leaves are small, rounded, lemon-yellow or golden in color, turning orange or bronze in autumn.
The plant blooms in May with small yellowish flowers. Shiny red berries ripen in September–October and often remain on the branches during the winter period.
The variety is slow-growing, adding about 10–15 cm per year. The plant is light-loving, drought-tolerant, possesses good winter hardiness and resistance to diseases, pests, and urban pollution. It is used for creating hedges, borders, and slope stabilization.
