The plant forms leaves of a greenish-yellow shade and fleshy light-colored stalks, which are used in cooking similarly to asparagus. Young leaves can be consumed fresh, blanched, or as part of dishes.
Seed sowing in open field is conducted from April to August at a depth of 2–3 cm while observing a planting scheme of 25–30 cm between plants and 40–50 cm between rows. Seedlings emerge in 10–25 days at a soil temperature of 10–20°C.
The harvest is collected from June to October by gradually removing leaves and stalks, preserving the growing point for further plant development.
