The sugar beet Merlin is a variety for industrial cultivation aimed at sugar production. Breeding is focused on yield stability and resistance to diseases such as Cercospora leaf spot, rhizomania, and nematodes.
The garden beet Merlin F1 is an early-maturing hybrid with a growing period of 50 to 105 days depending on the sowing season. The root crops are round in shape with a smooth surface and dark red flesh without pronounced concentric rings.
The Merlin F1 hybrid plant forms upright foliage 38–43 cm tall. The variety has intermediate resistance to downy mildew, Rhizoctonia root rot, and Cercospora leaf spot. The product contains 14–15% sugar and is suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and storage.
