The Novella variety is included in the common catalogues of varieties of agricultural plant species of the European Union.
During genetic research, a karyotype analysis of the variety was conducted; it is diploid (2n = 18) and consists of metacentric and submetacentric chromosomes. The variety also participated in production trials to evaluate yield, sugar content, and resistance to diseases and pests.
