The BD105 line is a wild population, not a bred agricultural variety. The plant is characterized by a low growth habit, with height often not exceeding 4 cm under experimental observation conditions.
The primary purpose of this specimen is for research. Due to its small genome size and short life cycle, the species is used in molecular biology and genetics as a model organism for studying processes characteristic of important cereal crops.
