The stem-tuber is characterized by a tender texture and thin skin, which allows for fresh consumption, including in salads. The variety is suitable for cultivation under glass, film covers, and agrofiber, as well as in the open field.

Trero belongs to population varieties and is not an F1 hybrid. Due to its qualities, it has been used as parental material in the breeding of other kohlrabi varieties and is included in biodiversity conservation programs as a traditional variety.
