The variety is late-maturing, with the period from emergence to technical maturity being 130–150, sometimes up to 175 days. The plant forms a medium-sized leaf rosette with a diameter of 70–110 cm. The leaves have a grey-green or blue-green color with a pronounced waxy bloom; the stalk reaches a length of 20–30 cm.
The heads are round or flat-round in shape, distinguished by a very dense structure and a weight from 2.5 to 4 kg. The variety possesses resistance to cracking and increased cold resistance, however, it is characterized by weak resistance to Fusarium wilt, vascular bacteriosis, grey mold, and pepper spot.
Amager is suitable for long-term winter storage and fermentation. The taste qualities of the produce improve after a storage period.
