The name "Morris F1" is a collective term for a group of related hybrids possessing similar characteristics. Plants of this series form dense, round, light green heads and are distinguished by a powerful root system.
Hybrids of the series are characterized by the ability to maintain high head quality in the field for a long time after maturity. They possess resistance to Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. conglutinans) and have low susceptibility to thrips damage.
Literature also mentions the "Morris Heading" variety, which is an old open-pollinated variety and is genetically different from the modern Morris F1 series hybrids.
