The variety belongs to the early-maturing group with lobed leaves. During agrotechnical trials, the variety demonstrated specific biochemical indicators, including a higher concentration of crude oil in the seeds and reduced chlorophyll content compared to similar varieties of that time.

The variety was intended for cultivation as an oilseed crop. In specialized documentation, including UPOV tests for distinctness, uniformity, and stability, Agena frequently appeared as a reference sample. The variety was also used in field research on monitoring the impact of pests and pathogens.
