The variety is a spring form of turnip rape, adapted to arid conditions and having a shorter growing season compared to rapeseed. The main advantage of the variety at the time of its introduction was a low erucic acid content meeting the requirements for edible oil, although the acid level could increase over time.
The variety is characterized by susceptibility to black leg disease, which limited its use in subsequent years. Agronomically, the variety demonstrated yields lower than some of its contemporary rapeseed varieties and was used in scientific research on responses to irrigation and fertilizers.
