The variety is an industrial crop intended for fiber production. Due to its low THC content, it is included in official catalogs of industrial varieties authorized for cultivation in European Union countries.

In scientific literature, the variety is widely used as a model organism for laboratory work on micropropagation and genetic transformation, including the establishment of hairy root cultures. In the 1990s, it was used on an industrial scale for pulp production.
