The Ñora pepper variety is a traditional variety type of folk selection, adapted to the Mediterranean climate of Spain. The fruits are practically not consumed fresh, as their primary purpose is sun-drying for further use as a spice in paella, stews, and sauces.
The fruits are characterized by a small size, a rounded shape, and thin skin, acquiring a deep red color upon ripening. According to the Scoville scale, the variety has a low capsaicin content, in the range of 500–1000 units. When dried, the taste becomes sweet, deep, and acquires earthy notes.
