The variety is of Italian origin and is intended for cultivation in the lowland conditions of Albania. Research into the agronomic qualities of the variety focuses on the analysis of the chemical composition of the seeds, including protein, fiber, and fatty acid content.
During comparative trials with a number of other safflower varieties, the Ruggero variety showed the highest protein content in the seeds, which amounted to 17.19%. Specific morphological characteristics of the plant, as well as data on resistance to diseases and lodging, have not been established.
