The variety is a selection from a local North Dutch landrace. The plant is characterized by high initial growth vigor and resistance to so-called browning disease.

The variety possesses good carvone and essential oil content. Seeds are prone to shattering during ripening, due to which swathing is recommended. It is used as a spice and aromatic plant, as well as in scientific research as part of grass mixtures.
