Variety description

10 August 2026

The Nerona cultivar is a local landrace formed through centuries of selection in the conditions of the Italian province of Lucca. It is not the result of modern plant breeding and is adapted to the climatic and geographical features of the Garfagnana region.

The fruits of this cultivar are traditionally used for drying in special kilns and subsequent milling into flour. The resulting product is characterized by a fine-grained structure, a color ranging from white to dark ivory, a sweet taste with a slight bitterness, and a pronounced chestnut aroma.
