The variety belongs to the Kabuli group. The plant has an erect or semi-erect growth habit with large leaflets. Typically, 1–2 beige seeds with a wrinkled surface form in one pod; a distinctive feature of the variety is the tight closure of the pod valves.

The variety is intended for food use and is versatile in culinary applications, suitable for preparing various dishes and processing into flour. Lambada is also used as a reference variety for distinctness, uniformity, and stability testing.
