LECHOSO represents a traditional Spanish chickpea ecotype belonging to the large-seeded Kabuli group. The plant is cultivated predominantly in the León and Andalusia regions and is widely used in the food industry for preparing soups, stews, and hummus.

The grain has a creamy-white or pale yellowish color, a thousand kernel weight of approximately 490 g, and a characteristic oblong, flattened shape. The product's distinctive features are a thin skin, the ability to cook quickly, and a delicate texture when prepared.

Representatives of this type demonstrate the ability to maintain high photosynthetic intensity under cold stress conditions. Given that the name is a trade designation for a group rather than a specific breeding variety, the morphological indicators of the plants may vary.
