The variety belongs to the Kabuli group and is distinguished by a rounded-angular shape of beige seeds. Agronomic studies confirm the high yield of the crop and the possibility of using No-Till technologies in its cultivation.
In a number of studies, the variety was considered in the context of trials for resistance to a complex of pests (phytophages). In Russian-language sources, the name "Leader" may also refer to local chickpea breeding lines, the characteristics of which may differ from the Canadian original CDC Leader.
