The plant forms very large, voluminous and dense rosettes. The leaves are broad and crunchy. The variety is suitable for harvesting from spring to late autumn.

The heart of the head whitens naturally, requiring no special tying of the leaves for blanching. The variety is noted for its hardiness and ability to withstand frosts down to -15°C. Used as a salad crop for fresh consumption.
