The Trogirska kopica variety belongs to the species Cichorium endivia L. of the Asteraceae family and is classified as a broad-leaved endive (Cichorium endivia var. latifolia). It is a traditional variety for the Balkan region and was previously represented in the seed programs of a number of countries.
