The variety forms dense, large cone-shaped heads 30–40 cm in height, outwardly resembling romaine lettuce. The leaves possess a crispy texture and a mild sweetish taste with a slight bitterness. Upon tight closure of the leaves, the inner parts of the head acquire a light, golden-yellow hue.

The plant is intended for the autumn-winter period of use; sowing is usually carried out from May to August. The crop is resistant to light frosts and is considered undemanding to cultivate. The variety is suitable both for fresh consumption in salads and for thermal processing by stewing, boiling, or frying.
