The Everest variety, sometimes referred to as an early version of the Mont-Blanc hybrid, was obtained during breeding work to develop chicory lines resistant to the effects of triflusulfuron-methyl. The development was conducted with the goal of increasing the efficiency of herbicidal crop protection.

During the creation of the variety, unconventional breeding methods based on the selection of plants with ALS enzyme insensitivity were used. In professional literature, the variety is classified as pre-commercial, while detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are absent in available descriptions.
