Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a perennial broad-leaved herbaceous plant with a thick, deep taproot and a semi-erect growth habit. During the vegetative phase, it forms a leaf rosette; in the absence of mowing, it produces flowering stems up to 1 meter high or more. Flowers are predominantly blue, with about 3% of plants possibly having a pink color.

The plant possesses increased resistance to Sclerotinia and drought, and is also distinguished by a higher growth rate in the cool season compared to the original variety Puna. The variety is valued for its high nutritional value, good dry matter yield, and excellent palatability for animals under rotational grazing.

It is used exclusively as a forage crop and can be sown both in pure stands and as part of pasture mixtures. It requires competent grazing management, as excessively intensive utilization, especially under wet conditions, can lead to damage to the plant crown and a reduction in the longevity of the stand.
