Variety description

10 August 2026

The plant forms a voluminous elongated head 15–25 cm in size and weighing from 150 to 500 g. The leaves have a wine-burgundy color with a prominent white central vein. The variety is adapted to a cool climate and requires exposure to frost for the development of color and taste qualities.

Two types are distinguished: early (Precoce), which has a denser shape and less pronounced bitterness, and late (Tardivo) with elongated curled leaves. To obtain a marketable appearance, a forcing technology is used, in which the roots are kept in the dark, which makes the leaves tender, lightens the veins, and reduces bitterness.

The produce belongs to salad crops consumed fresh, as well as after heat treatment as part of various dishes.
